{{todo|List Wii U and Vita protections.}}
This section lists the general protections in place on each platform. Per-game protection is covered in the relevant subpages.
====
PC has no savegame protection. Saves can be modified freely.
====
All PS3 saves are encrypted. They can be decrypted using [https://www.thetechgame.com/Downloads/id=223162/bruteforce-save-data-474-for-ps3.html Bruteforce Save Data].
====
All 360 saves are stored in a proprietary container format. They can be extracted using a tool such as [https://digiex.net/threads/velocity-xbox-360-file-mananger.14615/ Velocity].
====
====
The Xbox One is the only console on this list that has not been fully jailbroken. Its saves cannot be modified.
====
Saves cannot be backed up locally on Switch. The console must be jailbroken to export and/or modify saves, and this can only be done unintrusively on some [https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-informations-by-serial-number-read-the-first-post-before-asking-questions.481215/ older HAC-001 models]. Newer models require a modchips, which are increasingly expensive and difficult to find. The exporting and/or modification of saves can be performed using a tool such as [https://github.com/WerWolv/EdiZon EdiZon].
