The original model for the Classic Muscle was likely created sometime in early 2006. It appears in theBlack 2 (2006-06-29 Black 2 build), as well as the Burnout 5 2006-11-13 and 2007-02-22 builds. It was also used in promotional materials for Burnout 5, including in a flyer which came with some copies of Burnout Dominator.

The Classic Muscle was used for demonstrations of a car being ripped in two. Pete Lake showed a video of the process at GDC 2016, while Jack Griffin showed what appears to be screenshots from the same video at 4C: Prague 2018.

At some point between February 22 and July 18, the Classic Muscle's design was changed. Like the final model, the new design's front is based on a 1969 Pontiac GTO; however, unlike the final model, the rear has clear inspiration from a 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda. Based on the available timeframes, it is likely the "'Cuda Cavalry" design was short-lived.
